Odoo Field Service documents recording products on service tasks, subject to the required configuration. For an oilfield service business, evaluate that capability as part of a complete commercial workflow: agreed job scope, material use, work review and customer billing. Demonstrate how customer job references and approved extras are preserved; the product catalog alone does not establish your work-ticket acceptance process.
Understand the decision
In this illustrative example, a contractor attends a customer job with an agreed material allowance. The team uses an additional part and returns an unused item. Office staff need to distinguish the original scope, the approved extra and the returned quantity before reviewing the customer invoice. Use sanitized sample records from your own process to define those decisions.
Work through the requirements
- Agree the customer job reference, site reference and approved commercial scope
- Record material issues, additional use and unused returns with the responsible owner
- Show the reviewer the work evidence and the decision supporting each billable extra
- Compare the proposed invoice with the accepted job and resolve exceptions before release
| Record or decision | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Customer job instruction | Preserves the agreed scope and commercial reference |
| Material-use and return record | Explains which quantities were used and which came back |
| Extra-work approval | Identifies who accepted a change and on what basis |
| Billing review | Connects the proposed charge to accepted work |
What would a passing test show?
Use these hypothetical cases in a demonstration. Mark the evidence you have reviewed, then download the checklist. Selections stay in this tab.
Watch for this failure
Closing a task is not the same as obtaining customer acceptance for every charge. A material-use record may explain what happened, but your commercial policy still needs a clear review point and an owner for disputed extras.
Continue the evaluation
This example defines what to verify, rather than promising a particular Odoo feature. Keep a record of the demonstrated result, configuration, unresolved gaps and person who accepts it.
