Separate uncut material, cut bundles, partially assembled garments and finished stock in the migration design. Count each physical state once and connect it to the correct order and variant. Reconcile material already consumed into work in progress so it does not remain available as both fabric stock and unfinished garments.
Understand the decision
A hypothetical cutover takes place while one style is being cut and another is partly sewn. Bundle tickets use handwritten numbers, and several rejected panels await a decision. The opening records need enough detail to resume work without claiming that all planned garments are complete or all issued fabric remains usable.
Work through the requirements
- Create a dated physical inventory by work stage.
- Match bundle identifiers to orders and variants.
- Reconcile issued fabric and completed garment quantities.
| Record or decision | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Bundle register | Identify quantity, variant and current stage. |
| Material bridge | Explain stock already issued to work. |
| Opening reconciliation | Approve totals and unresolved exceptions. |

Watch for this failure
Converting every open order into finished stock makes opening totals look simple but destroys the production position. Retain the distinctions operators need, and resolve ambiguous bundle identities before they become invisible assumptions in the new system.
