Define authority separately for merchandising content, selling price, operational identity and available stock. Protect accepted orders from later catalogue changes and document how new variants are introduced. The integration test should prove how a missing mapping, conflicting edit or delayed inventory update becomes visible to an owner instead of silently producing divergent records.
Understand the decision
The marketing team changes a product title while operations changes its packaging, and the storefront creates a new variant during a promotion. One system may be best suited to each task. The review should agree those boundaries before choosing a connector or allowing broad bidirectional updates.
Work through the requirements
- Create a field-level ownership map
- Approve variant creation and mapping rules
- Test conflicts and delayed stock updates
| Record or decision | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Product field authority | Defines the approved editing source |
| Variant crosswalk | Connects selling and warehouse identities |
| Sync exception queue | Shows changes requiring resolution |
What would a passing test show?
Use these hypothetical cases in a demonstration. Mark the evidence you have reviewed, then download the checklist. Selections stay in this tab.
Watch for this failure
Bidirectional synchronization is not automatically better synchronization. Without field ownership, two valid users can repeatedly overwrite each other, and an attractive product page may conceal a warehouse record that identifies a different variant or packaging quantity.
Continue the evaluation
This example defines what to verify, rather than promising a particular Odoo feature. Keep a record of the demonstrated result, configuration, unresolved gaps and person who accepts it.
