Rehearse a bulk batch split into separate packaging runs with different release outcomes. Trace each finished lot to its source, preserve the remaining bulk balance and confirm that dispatch sees only approved quantities. Include a customer inquiry that starts with a shipped case and works back to the relevant run records.
Understand the decision
For a hypothetical rehearsal, Monday’s cases pass inspection while Tuesday’s cases remain held after a closure issue. Both used the same bulk batch but different packaging deliveries. The team must answer which cases shipped and which stock remains affected without placing unrelated output into the same status.
Work through the requirements
- Create both packaging runs against the sample bulk batch.
- Release one output lot and hold the other.
- Trace a sample shipment back through packaging and bulk records.
| Record or decision | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Run-to-batch link | Connect packed output with its source. |
| Inspection outcome | Document separate release decisions. |
| Shipment trace | Identify actual customer dispatches. |
What would a passing test show?

Watch for this failure
One batch identifier does not mean every packaging run has the same outcome. Test the granularity needed for a real investigation, including packaging inputs, and let the responsible product specialist approve the traceability design.
