Define the authority for recurring instructions, customer pauses, stock availability and payment events separately. Specify how a shortage affects the current cycle and what requires customer approval. The interface should make delayed or conflicting events visible so a pause received in one system cannot be ignored merely because another has already queued fulfilment.
Understand the decision
A customer pauses an order shortly before its scheduled dispatch while the warehouse receives an automated pick request. A second customer’s product is out of stock. The review should establish event timing and decision ownership rather than promising that every subscription action instantly controls every connected system.
Work through the requirements
- Assign authority for pause and fulfilment states
- Define the cycle cutoff and exception rules
- Reconcile conflicting events before release
| Record or decision | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Customer instruction event | Records pause or change requests |
| Cycle release rule | Defines when fulfilment may proceed |
| Subscription exception queue | Tracks conflicts requiring a decision |
What would a passing test show?

Watch for this failure
A subscription connection has several independent clocks: customer action, payment and physical fulfilment. Document how their conflicts are resolved rather than advertising instant control that the actual systems, provider terms or warehouse process cannot demonstrate.
Continue the evaluation
This example defines what to verify, rather than promising a particular Odoo feature. Keep a record of the demonstrated result, configuration, unresolved gaps and person who accepts it.
