Count usable material by its actual identity and remaining quantity, and migrate reusable tooling through a separate register. Preserve reel or batch references where the business needs traceability. Reconcile issued material and unfinished blanks so the opening position does not include both a full reel and the output already cut from it.
Understand the decision
A converter changes systems with partly used film reels, stacks of unglued blanks and customer-owned cutting dies. Its legacy spreadsheet uses estimated full-reel equivalents. The new opening records need to explain usable material, unfinished production and assets held for customers without merging those categories.
